Walter was born on December 1, 1939 and passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Walter was a resident of Genoa, Illinois at the time of passing.

Walter was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Cuban Crisis.

His visitation will be on Friday from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa, with a wake service being recited at 7:30 PM. His funeral mass will be on Saturday, April 14th at 11:00 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. 60135, with Fr. Donald Ahles officiating. Military honors will be performed after the funeral mass by the U.S. Navy honor guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Cancer Center in DeKalb in care of the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, St., Genoa, IL. 60135.
